Evolved Node B – A network element in the RAN (Radio Access Network) which is responsible for the transmission and reception of radio signals in one or more cells to or from user equipment. Mobile tower or base station that the user equipment connects to, for access to mobile network/mobile internet. Legacy term for a mobile Access Point – the hardware that is connected to the mobile phone network that communicates directly wirelessly with mobile handsets (UEs), like a base transceiver station (BTS) in GSM networks.
